Artistic

The artistic output that together makes up Breath Cycle is featured within this section of the website. Described as a ‘concept community opera’, the content was conceived and written by Gareth Williams (Scottish Opera’s Composer in Residence) and librettist David James Brock. Each of the pieces in Breath Cycle is inspired by conversations they had with participants during the project. The notes, written by Gareth and David, explain a bit about each one.

In 2019, Young People's Theatre in Toronto commissioned and produced A Million Billion Pieces, a music theatre work from Brock/Williams that draws on the ideas and experiences uncovered during the Breath Cycle Project.
